Now that we have an understanding of the basic crochet stitches. Let’s actually put them into practice. So grab some yarn and a hook!
HOW TO CROCHET BEGINNER STITCHES
Slip knot – Wrap the yarn around your fingers and pull of the yarn. You should have a circle. Then place the working yarn (yarn coming from the skein) under the circle. Grab your hook and go under the working yarn and over. Finally, pull your hook and yarn! You’ve got a slip knot.

Chain – Once your slipknot is created with your hook in the slip knot, yarn over (which means yarn over hook) and pull through the first stitch.

Single Crochet – Once your chain has been created, insert your hook into first chain and yarn over, pull through (you should have two loops on hook), yarn over and pull through both loops.

Slip stitch – Insert hook into chain, yarn over, and pull through first loop on hook.

Half Double Crochet – Yarn over (2 loops on hook), insert hook, yarn over, pull through first stitch, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops on hook.

Double Crochet: Yarn over (2 loops on hook), insert hook, yarn over, pull through first stitch, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through last 2 loops.

Treble Crochet: Yarn over twice (3 loops on hook), insert hook, yarn over, pull through first stitch, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through last 2 loops.
