Free Chunky Striped Crochet Blanket Pattern

Cozy, colorful, and easy to make, the Harvest Blanket is a chunky striped crochet blanket that's perfect for when you want something simple and relaxing on your hook. It’s made using the classic moss stitch and four different colors to create a beautiful striped design that looks modern while still feeling warm and cozy.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might recognize this stitch from my Striped Moss Stitch Crochet Blanket. That blanket has been a longtime favorite, so I thought it would be fun to create another version using a different color combination and stripe pattern.

The moss stitch is one of my favorite stitches for blankets because it’s easy to memorize and creates such a lovely woven texture. Once you get the stitch repeat down, you can simply relax and crochet. Which makes this a great project for beginners or anyone looking for an easy, cozy blanket to make.

Alright, let's go ahead and get into all the things you need to know on how to make the Harvest Blanket!

How to Make a Striped Crochet Blanket Using the Moss Stitch

The first step is to create your foundation chain. From there, you’ll work the moss stitch back and forth in rows, changing colors throughout the pattern to create the striped design.

The moss stitch is made using just single crochet stitches and chains, so once you get the stitch repeat down, the blanket is really simple. It’s one of those stitches that you can easily work on while watching your favorite show.

Furthermore, as you work through the pattern, you’ll follow the stripe sequence listed in the pattern, repeating the colors until your blanket reaches the finished length.

And that’s it! That’s how this chunky striped crochet blanket comes together.

Now that you have an idea of how it all comes together, let’s take a quick look at the yarn used for this project.

The Yarn You'll Use For This Crochet Blanket

For this crochet blanket pattern, I used Lion Brand Hue + Me Yarn in four different colors (Salt, Artichoke, Marine, and Desert). This is a number 5 bulky-weight yarn made from a blend of acrylic and wool.

If you've been following my blog for a while, you've probably seen me use this yarn before. It's definitely become my go-to chunky yarn, and I've used it for several different projects over the years.

I also really love the color selection in this yarn line, especially when making a striped blanket like this one. There are so many pretty colors that work well together, so you can easily choose four of your favorites and create your own color combination.

Alright, now that we’ve gone over the yarn and everything you need to know about this blanket, let’s go ahead and get started with the pattern!
