Create this beginner friendly crochet cozy for your favorite cup. This pattern is super easy and takes maybe 30 minutes to whip up! All you need to know are the basic stitches in crochet.
This crochet cup cozy will be the first pattern in my 2 – part series for the week. So watch out for 1 more cup cozy’s making their way this week on the blog. I’m so excited to be doing this series because I love creating cup cozy’s! I think they add the perfect touch to your favorite cup.
Plus, I love making them for the holidays as gifts. Their’s just something about creating a homemade gift with your own two hands.
DESIGN INSPIRATION:
The design inspiration for this pattern came from wanting to make something simple, yet detailed. I also wanted the crochet stitch to be very easy and beginner friendly. So the main stitch used for this pattern is half double crochet back loop only, because it creates a nice ribbed texture.
I’m actually quite a fan of this easy stitch and use it a lot in my crochet patterns. I actually made a beautiful scarf using this stitch, if you would like to see it or make it, click here.
So as you can see I absolutely love this stitch! What’s your go to stitch you like to use in your crochet projects?
YARN CHOICE:
The yarn I decided to go with for this cozy is a wool acrylic blend from Lion Brand. I love working with this yarn because its never failed me in the past. I usually stock up on it when it goes on sale. Its a number 4 medium weight yarn, so it’s definitely a lot thinner than a bulky yarn.
But what’s great about this project is that any medium weight yarn would work for this project. Bulky probably as well, you might have to adjust your initial stitch count so its not to long.
So let’s get into the pattern!
