Learn how to crochet a pretty puff stitch pattern with this easy tutorial. This pattern uses chains, double crochets, and puff stitches.
In today’s tutorial, I’m going to show you how to crochet a pretty puff stitch pattern. This easy tutorial includes step-by-step photos. To create this pretty puff stitch pattern you’re going to need to know chains, double crochets, and puff stitches.
Crochet Puff Stitch
One of the first stitches that I came across when I learned how to crochet was the puff stitch. The puff stitch is made by having several loops on your hook at once. Sounds difficult, but I promise you it’s actually easy to make. All you have to do is make sure that your tension is a bit more on the looser side when your yarning over and pulling through each stitch. This creates a nice little puff stitch!
The other thing you’re going to need to know for this pattern is chains and double crochets. The chains and double crochets are going to be used in between each puff stitch. Of course, you could totally omit this step and do a row full of puff stitches. Practice makes perfect right?
This pretty puff stitch pattern creates a flowy type of fabric. When crocheting up a swatch, you’ll notice that the pattern is not very thick or dense. It does hold a bit of structure and this is because of the puff stitches. Of course, it’s going to depend on what type of yarn and hook you want to use too. I think if you choose a thicker yarn, it might make this stitch pattern very dense. But if you go with a thinner yarn as I did, it’ll create a flowy fabric.
I used Lion Brand Coboo yarn for this stitch tutorial. Lion Brand Coboo yarn is a lightweight number 3 yarn. Its a blended cotton/bamboo yarn. It has a fantastic drape and works great for a variety of projects. So if you haven’t checked out this yarn, do it! You’re going to love it.
Overall, I think you can use this stitch for a variety of different patterns. You could crochet blankets or bags, really anything in my opinion. If you plan on making something for this stitch, leave your comment down below. I love finding out what are people are making!
